Police say a suspect remains on the run after a botched robbery at a Ford dealership near the Greenstone Mall on the East Rand.
It’s understood a group of men overpowered and tied up a security guard, gained access to the premises and broke into the safe.
Police say they took the keys to three new vehicles which were parked outside.
A shoot-out ensued between police and the five men, as they were preparing to drive out with the vehicles.
The police's Kay Makhubele says one suspect was shot and killed.
“The other suspect slipped and we are investigating a case of business robbery and also attempted murder. We are appealing to anyone with information to help the police to trace the other suspect.”
