Maphatsoe to miss MKMVA 55th anniversary celebrations #CAP

Umkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) chairperson Kebby Maphatsoe says he will not be attending the African National Congress' (ANC) former military underwing's 55th anniversary celebrations this weekend.

Maphatsoe was speaking at an awards gala dinner honouring all those who had fought and lost their lives during South Africa's liberation struggle.

He says people within the organisation are not barred from holding their own meetings.

“Unfortunately, I'm going to the funeral of one of the youngest cadres of Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA), who belongs to the last generation of MKMVA who just passed on during the week - so I’ll be addressing the funeral. We allow anybody to meet wherever they are and we hope after that meeting they will come to the structure of MK and say this is what we have been discussing, consider this please and we'll consider it,” adds the MKMVA chairperson.
